Lizardman Music

In my opinion, there are some things that should not be mixed together. For example, lox and cream cheese. That's just nasty…BUT…there are people out there who like it. Ska and polka music? No, these shouldn't be mixed. That's what I got out of the Lizardman Records (www.lizardman.com) indie group SAUCE. I will say however, that much like lox and cream cheese, people will and can like this. Whatever do you mean? SAUCE's music is has a funny and upbeat touch to it making it great for live shows. Stage presence is huge for a band and while I don't think I'd pop these guys into my CD player to just chill, they probably put on a hell of a live show. But that is just a guess.

There were several songs that I found funny on the CD and worth checking out. The first was "Purple Bubble" which is about a purple car and its de-masculating effect it has on its owner. "Better Cable" is a rock-a-billy song about wanting to kill someone due to the fact that they have better cable TV than he does. Nobody can dispute that kind of hatred. "That Polka Polka Feeling" is simply odd, but funny. To the sound of an accordion they sing the words "I love to polka every day. Buy me a sausage cause I've got an appetite,"…like I said…its odd. I was also pleased to hear the "Message from A Fan" which is a nasty taped phone call from a neighbor telling the band to keep the music down.

How do you categorize this music? I'd say its like Real Big Fish meets the Shlotzski Fab Five. As I said earlier, this isn't the kind of music you sit back and chill with. But, I'll bet they put on a good show for a bunch of drunken people. If you hear they are coming your way, give em' a look see. But the CD, I'm afraid isn't a hit for me. Sorry guys.
