After several years away, Radiohead returned with two albums, Kid A and
Amnesiac. Though they were hailed by the critics and diehard fans, some of
the band's more casual fans were overwhelmed by the discs. Some considered
the albums inaccessible. The Radiohead that released "Karma Police" bore
little resemblance to the Radiohead that released "The National Anthem."
A mysterious thing happened when the band took the show to the road. The same songs that many called inaccessible took on a whole new life in a live setting. "Idioteque," proved to be incredibly flexible, a song that could be performed at different speed, which gave it a dance feel. Even a song like "Everything In Its Right Place," which does not seem like it would work in a live setting, acquits itself magnificently in concert. I Might Be Wrong (Live Recordings) is an eight-song collection taken from performances in Oslo, Oxford, Berlin, and Vaison La Romaine (though which song came from which performance was not revealed by the band for royalty reasons.) It is a terrific-sounding disc that does an excellent job at making people realize the genius that is Radiohead. |
