Maxwell what has happened
to you? A far leap from Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite
(his first album), and 10 miles from his shitty Unplugged album, Embrya
is a little weak. This 11 track album lacks in originality. I hope he didn't tap out his talent on his first two efforts, but that
is what it seems like. The only reason that I've given it a yellow
light is that this is great getting laid music. The only song that
caught my ear was "Drowndeep:Hula." The rest, is a weak attempt to
copy Barry White's glory days. It simply sounds like he is
trying too hard to sound like someone else. Not to mention his attempt
to toss in the Spanish lyrics to spice things up a bit. I couldn't
wait till this album came out, now I wish I had. I hate when someone's
first album is great and the next few blow. That is what you get
here. The lyrics are weak.
The song themes are idiotic. However, I must give the boy props on
putting you in the mood. Just make sure you put on Hang Suite first
and hope the girl you're with doesn't really get the chance to listen to
this one.
