The stand out on the CD is "WISE UP". Beyond being a
good song, the song sets the tone for the climax of
the movie. With happy lyrics like "It's not going to
stop... so just give up" how can you help but drive on?!?
Other songs are a remake of "ONE", as in the
loneliest number not the Pearl Jam version, done by
Mann. Supertramp supplies two classic songs, "Goodbye
Stranger" and the "Logical Song". Gabrielle's
"DREAMS" also makes an appearance. Overall, good
music with a laid back almost folksy feel, but man
does it have a way of putting you in a real blue mood.
If you like this CD, you may want to look into Aimee
Mann's two previous CD's I'm With Stupid in '96 and Whatever
from '93. Whatever you do, my advice is
avoid this CD if things in your life are not going
well! Much like pouring gas on a fire...you'll be off
and running to a cozy stay at the local rubber ranch
otherwise! This is wine sipping music so don't pop it
in when the gang comes over to toss back a few beers.
Much like the movie, this is not the feel good event
of the year! The movie and the soundtrack are a
nosedive into the guilty minds of the average person.
In a search for what the movie conveyed (what up with
the frogs ya'll?), a close friend hit the movie as
close as one could... it's about man's forgiveness of each
other, of himself, and God's forgiveness of man. The
soundtrack reflects that same bleak and unhappy
message via the Sheryl Crow-esk voice of Aimee Mann,
who performs the first 9 of the CD's 13 tracks.
