So what songs REALLY suck, since all of them blow in my opinion. "Sun" with music that sounds like it was taken from "White Discussion" we hear the words like "let the world be the world and the girl be the girl" backed with the powerful chores of "Sun, Sun Merciful One." I could do better with "There once was a man from Nantucket…." "They Stood Up For Love" is another pile of religious bile. "Even scientists say everything is just light, not created, destroyed but eternally bright." How many songs make reference to water you ask? EIGHT of 13! How many make reference to fire and/ or water? All 13! Put a sock in it fellas!
What the hell went wrong here I can't begin to fathom. I guess they burned out the hate in their first 3 CD's leaving us with the flotsam and jetsam of their brain crust. I'll think twice before I buy another one of their CD's. This is a hard review to write for me, being that this band was one of my favorites up to now. Not to mention that they put on one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Lets hope this type of junk just needed to get out of their system.
When people are able to remove themselves from the materialistic and violent existence here on earth and muster the foresight to reach a new plain of existence which removes the poisoned and feted stench that is human existence they can express that in music to come up with a lump of shit like "The Distance To Here". If you ever wanted to become a Buddhist Monk, your training manual can be this CD. Deep felt lyrics tell you how to change "your hate to faith" and the realization that "what good is a beautiful day if you can't see the light?" I simply wanted to barf when I listened to this CD. One song…maybe two about what drives you is okay. A CD about it simply sucks. The lyrics to these songs can be pulled out of any "how to" manual for religious conversion.
