(Listener Supported Review by Keith) you might want to mention the fact in there that this is also a cover or are you once again uninformed? ok now on the the review as a whole...my guess is that youre not a hardcore dmb fan, which is kool, theres plenty of people that are into him that arent obsessive, BUT bc of this i dont think you can really make a very fair assesment of the album. ive been to 11 dmb shows, i actually happened to be at the listener supported show so i know first hand what an awesome show it was, one of the reasons that people like me keep going back and back is bc everytime the boys play a song live its different, its never the same and as far as what you said about some of the songs being on btcs, well of course theyre gonna be on there, that was hte last album they released and you cant even try to tell me that theres no difference between the studio versions and the versions on the album. and i love how you neglected to note the fact that #40 is on this album, that in itself is reason enough to buy the album bc any dmb fan knows that this is a song you hear once in a friggin blue moon and that fact that they put it on a live album was just amazing. so i guess as you can tell i was slightly peeved at the review but im gonna respect your oppinion, i just had to let you know what i think...celebrate we will...mary p.s.- i havent read the other reviews yet so there may be more to come

yeah im back...ok so i love how you manage to dis his new stuff (btcs) in one review (red rox) and yet praise him in the review you gave btcs...im sorry does that seem hypocritical at all....i agree w alot of what you said as far as the fact that the music is daeker and what not and the conciousness of the bad and so on....byw, halloween is a very old dave song fyi..so yeah next time you review more then one dave cd you might want to check yourself to make sure youre not making an idiot out of yourself as you did here...celebrate we will (kinda negates the whole feel of this email, but fuck it)...mary

Well Mary, I must say that you are the first hate mail response to my page and reviews. I'm glad to hear your perspective. And I mean that honestly. I also find you to be a jackass in most respects and in the following paragraphs I'll explain why.

First and foremost, music means different things to different people. One persons perspective of an artist can be very different from another persons perspective of the same artist and/or song. I try to reflect that in my review page. I provide someone with MY view. I also try to give a CD props for what I like and marks against it for the stuff I don't. I don't apply blanket opinions unless I find nothing redeeming in it. For example, after reading your email I may simply say your a jackass. A blanket opinion…you're a total jackass. However, I'm sure there is a nugget or two of information in that pea sized melon you call a head that contains information useful to others. For example, maybe you know the temperature at which water boils. I don't know that…making it useful information to someone out there. So I'd guess and say your not a total jackass. That's how I work. Now lets take a look at my reviews you didn't like.

If you read my reviews carefully, you'll see that I promoted the good and the bad. In my Listener Supported review, of which you were so critical, I wrote: "Am I saying I don't like the music? No. Am I saying the CD isn't good? No. But I am saying if you have any of the other 3 CDs released last year or in 1998…you've already got this one." And "Let me add this addendum to the review: If you like live music and the band in concert, this CD will fit the bill for you. Personally, however, I'm glad my roommate shelled out the $20 in green backs for it and not me." See the words "ME" and "PERSONALLY." What I find to be important about my reviews is they don't contain any hypnotic or mystical effects on people. When people read them they are free to go out and say…."He must be wrong! Hell with him I'll buy the CD anyway." Unlike how they seem to come off to you, as will bending and mind altering, people who think for themselves can buy and listen to anything they want with or without my opinion. Let me point out, however, that sometimes my facts are wrong. And when that is pointed out to me I appreciate it. For example, a person pointed out to me one time that I said "Watchtower" was a Jimi Hendrix song, when actually written and performed by Dylan . What I meant to say was that it was made famous by Hendrix. I made a correction to the page. So your comments in reference to "True Reflections" and Boyd singing it and not Carter are appreciated. And your comment on "Halloween" even though I don't remember saying that it was a new song, other than it being on the new album. I don't dispute that some people know more about certain bands than I do.

Now let me comment on your email directly and why I think you are a jackass for the most part. If my review is hypocritical for saying I like part of something and not other parts, don't your very comments on me being hypocritical make you just as much of a hypocrite? You agree with me, but disagree also? Or is it possible that you don't agree with everything I say and have a different perspective without being a hypocrite?

Jackass Point 2: In both of your emails, you manage to fling various personal attacks as "do you not like it bc it hits too close to home" and "making an idiot out of yourself." If you don't like what I have to say about your favorite band then don't read it. That simple. There is no need to attack me personally. But since the ball is in my court, if you want to talk about sounding like an idiot, take a look at your grammar for the love of God. I've never seen a two page sentence prior to your email. Try a period or two, it makes you look a lot less retarded when you try to criticize someone. Also, try using spell check once in a while. Most computers have it you know. For example, "rox" is not a word and "conciousness" is spelled "consciousness."

So let me wrap things up by saying this to you Mary. I'm glad to hear your opinions on my reviews. I invite you to write more. With a fast thinker like yourself, it will keep me on my toes. What I don't need from you, but am fully willing to reply to, are personal attacks. So go pack your things for you next Dave Matthews Band show…I mean God you've been to 11, you guys must be the best of friends.
