While it has the ska thing kicking for it, the songs don't sound all the same like the Bosstones stuff does. Also, this has more of an acoustic/calypso touch to it than most ska music. The big attractions on the album are the songs "Mission Bells" and "Walk Into My Eyes". Both offer some horns, some jump, and a overall good vibe. This is hanging out with the gang feel good music. For example, the kind of stuff you put on in the background at a party (God knows Thorick does). Sure it's not going to turn you house into a throbbing mosh pit, but it will keep a good mood among the natives.
The band haunts the D.C. and James Madisom U area if you want to check them out. You never know, maybe you'll see me there. Then again, maybe not.
When my boy Thorick Dino told me I had to hear this band, I was a little apprehensive. He is a big ska fan and I'm not. The good news is he was right, these guys are great! The bad thing is I've been to two of their shows yet managed to miss them both times. Go figure. "You And Everybody Else" is their first CD since there were signed by Mercury Records. And its a good one.
