What are the top 5 reasons to like this CD? 1) Its different. 2) Its got class. 3) If you like the classic "new-wave" music of the 60's and 70's, you can't go wrong. 4) You'll find yourself signing along after a few listen throughs. 5) The movie was cool so why not buy the CD. If you've seen the movie you'll understand the top 5 list. If you haven't seen it, then this joke will be lost on you. Nevertheless, John Cusack's newest movie has a killer soundtrack... and personally is a damn good and funny movie. I was impressed to find out that he was one of the executive album producers for the soundtrack.

First let me say this, I've really given bands like the Velvet Underground and John Wesley Harding a honest to God chance prior to this. I've since (with my head hung low) changed my tune. "Oh! Sweet Nuthin", cut from Velvet Underground's 1970 "Loaded" album, is a real feel good song. It also seems to be the theme song for the movie. "I'm Wrong About Everything" by John Wesley Harding could be mistaken for an Elvis Costello song. I've heard of this guy but never given his music a chance. In the future, however, you may find a review for him up here. The best part of the movie and the CD is "Let's Get It On" done by Jack Black. I was impressed by this Marvin Gay remake done by the flabby star of such movies as Airborne and The Jackal (both bit parts). It's a funny scene and he does the song serious justice. Also found on the CD are Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, The Kinks, and Elvis Costello.

For overall variety and quality music, this CD is a winner. I don't see the movie or the CD doing very well due simply to its obscure nature. However, I'd recommend you give it a shot if you're in the mood for something different.
