My personal favorites on the CD are "My World" and "Insomnia". Both songs give you that reflectiona on your life feel. "My World" seems to be talking about kind of being trapped inside his own life and trying to bring someone else into it. Which we all know is often not the easiest thing to do. Especially for the eternally commitment scared person like myself. "Insomnia"... well it doesn't take much thought to figure out what this song deals with. What guy or girl hasn't laid awake at night agonizing over a significant other at least once in their life. He captures that very well in this short song. But since I seem to often suffer from insomnia, it struck a cord with me. All of the songs you'll hear are low key and don't throw stuff in your face. Great stuff to just chill out to.
Again, having never seen The Count, I can imagine that a live show would really set you on your heals. Its not often that you can see someone play a stringed instrument live these days without losing vital parts of your inner ear. It would be my guess that the Count gives you a pleasant show. However, don't pack your mosh pants because you won't need them. I suggest giving this guy a shot.
What do you get when you listen to The Count? Phantom of the Opera meets Ziggy Stardust. With an 8 piece band including a string quartet and piano, you're looking at a horse of a different color I assure you. When I first got this CD and it said it involved an orchestra I figured it would suck. But it doesn't…. and actually it's damn cool. While the CD is sort of short, giving you only a half-hour of listening, it's a good half-hour.
