What am I talking about? "1968" talks about a trip through time of living a rock and roll life. The song takes you through several decades of what they saw and where they were heading. "Hey Little Mama" is the good old-fashioned pursuit of a girl. With lyrics like, "In the morning of the day I lay awake and think of what to say. And I can't understand why you don't want me at the same time that I want you," how can you go wrong? Its just simply good old fashion music.
Forty Days and Forty Nights is one of many titles released on the Real Dream Music label. Overall, this is a unique CD in today's market. I will admit that this isn't main stream music. If you're into Korn or Dave Matthews, this isn't for you…that's why I gave it a yellow light. But if you like bands like Boston and the Boss, you'll like these guys.
The 1995 release of Bruce Springsteen's "The Ghost of Tom Joad" is the first thing that came to mind when I heard The Alibis CD - Forty Days and Forty Nights. I have to admit that I don't like the Boss all that much but much like the Alibis there are exceptions that must be made. The Alibis, a cadre of veteran rock and rollers, have put together a CD reminding us of the simple things that music used to talk about. Having to go to work, the girl you love, the girl you're in lust with... that good ole' American music. They don't beat you over the head with political views or politically correct topics like most groups do today. And by God, that's Americana at its best!
