Sometimes there comes an album that you just can't say enough good things
about. This is one of them. When I first bought this CD, I really didn't
like it all that much. I liked the radio played "Semi-Charmed Life," but
that was about it. Within a few days, however, I couldn't stop listening
to the CD. Third Eye Blind has a contemporary rock sound. They aren't Seattle but
they aren't pop either. They have both a hard and a soft side. So, if you
like guitars rather than horns on your musical pallet, these guys should
fit the bill. The CD has 14 original tunes. The CD fills the bang for your buck gap providing
almost an hour worth of music. The staple song on the CD is "Semi-Charmed
Life." The rest of the CD diverges from the poppy sound and plays a more
down to earth sound. Upcoming radio songs from the CD are the "Graduate"
and "How's It Going To Be." For me, the gems of the CD are "Narcolepsy,"
"I Want You," "The Background," and the sad "Motorcycle Drive By." All
of these songs seem like the ones you hear playing in the background of
movies. They have a real soul to them, if you can't hear it....you ain't
listenin' pal.
For me, there is little question that this will be the top album of 97-98.
My only hope is that they haven't washed out all their talent in one load.
Right now you should shut off your computer and run and buy this CD. Don't
bother looking in the used bin.....it won't be there.
