Do you like simple straight forward rock and roll? If so, this is the CD
for you. I have to admit, there really isn't anything new to offer here
in ways of sound or lyrics or originality, but it's a great rock staple.
The band has suddenly leapt into notoriety with airplay of the first two
tracks, LOSERand KRYPTONITE. The CD deals a lot with the dreaming youth
and how the world has the ability to stifle those dreams. Kinda gave me a John Cougar feel with a Seven Mary Three edge as I listened to it.Overlooking the first two tracks, which rock, there are several others that grab the attention. DUCK AND RUN, track 3, a song about how the world is so in the face of youth and its ability to harm the young spirit. The message is very clear with lyrics like, "To this world I'm unimportant because I have nothing to give. So you call this your free country tell me why it cost so much to live. This world can turn me down but I won't turn away." Track 5, BE LIKE THAT, is a song about two young people hoping to get out of small town America hoping that great things are going to happen to them or at the very least get better. My guess is, the genesis for this song came from the bands up brining in Mississippi? A feeling every West Virginia youth goes through. I've recently heard that this bands live music lacks energy because the band doesn't have much of a stage presence. Other than word of mouth, I, like a jackass, missed the band when they came to Huntington last year. While I don't know what the live show is like, the CD rocks. I'd have to say go out and buy it.
